At Tile Doctor SA we are experts for marble polishing in Cape Town for floor tiles and even statutes. The thing is, beauty will not fade. May it be a persons’ appearance, a dusty old abandoned painting and the like. It definitely just needs enhancement and development whether it be through cleaning or polishing. You know a little saving to be done to get back to its original appearance thus making it look more appealing and stronger within.

This relates to Marble stone, everyone knows how elegant marble looks. It is one of the most beautiful material you can incorporate into your home decor. Newly installed marble floors have a glossy, reflective finish that shifts with changes in light that provides a look of elegance in a room. However with use, its finish tends to dim and lose it’s luster as the tiles become dulled and scratched.

Cleaning your marble floor makes a little difference as scratched or damaged tiles always appear somewhat dirty. But, there is always a hope. You can still restore the floor to its original glory. Repairing its surface and buffing a shine into it makes it look good as it did on the day it was installed.

Marble is a generally a softer stone, though some marbles are harder than others. Therefore, marble is prone to scratching, etching and can lose its shine as time goes by. Marble polishing is done to restore your marble back to their original condition. It’s not surprising that “polish” is often confused to number of subtly meanings in the stone industry.

Most often what is meant by “polish” is in reference to the type of “finish” on marble, limestone, granite or any natural stone. To give marble a quick shine, try crushing a child’s stick of common white chalk into a fine powder. Dampen a clean white wash rag and dip it into the chalk powder. Rub it on the marble with smooth, overlapping back and forth strokes. Allow to dry for a moment, then rinse with fresh water on a damp rag, and dry thoroughly.

A marble can be finished with a number of different surface types, styles or looks depending on what is wanted by the buyer. These types of finish are:

  1. Polished- This is the shiny, glossy type of finish. You can see this commonly on marble and granite counter tops with the deepest color saturation.
  2. Honed finish- The satin-smooth type. Not really reflective and the colours are muted. That’s why it is often referred to as the “matte” finish. This type of finish is the one that is easy to maintain and more appealing to look at especially if your stone has colours and patterns

These methods to restore you marble flooring depends to some degree on the type of marble you have. It is still important to seek professional assistance for better and careful restoration. This is why an experienced marble restorer needs to understand the makeup of your marble so he can adapt the restoration process to suit your marble floor.
